International Tariffs and Customs Information

At Louise Wade Jewellery, each piece is handmade with love and care in our London studio and shipped securely around the world.
We’re delighted that our jewellery reaches so many destinations, but please be aware that when ordering from outside the United Kingdom, your parcel may be subject to local import duties, taxes or customs fees once it arrives in your country.

Customs Duties and Import Taxes-

For all international orders:

The buyer is considered the importer of record and is responsible for paying any import duties, customs tariffs, taxes, clearance fees or other charges applied by their local authorities.

All orders are shipped on a Delivered at Place (DAP) basis — sometimes referred to as Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU).
This means that duties and taxes are not included in the prices or shipping fees shown at checkout.

Customs officials in your country may contact you directly to collect these payments before your parcel is released for delivery.

Customs Clearance and Delivery Times-

We always do our utmost to ensure your jewellery arrives quickly and safely.
However, please note that we cannot accept responsibility for any delays caused by customs inspections or clearance procedures in the destination country.
Delivery timeframes provided at checkout are estimates only and may vary depending on local customs processing.

Refused or Returned Parcels-

If a parcel is refused or returned because import duties or taxes were not paid, the buyer remains responsible for all associated costs — including return shipping, storage or handling fees, and any duties already incurred.
These costs will be deducted from any refund, or the order may be deemed forfeited if the parcel cannot be returned to us.

Customs Declarations-

All international shipments include the required customs documentation, accurately stating the contents and full retail value of the order.
We are unable to mark parcels as “gifts” or to declare a lower value on customs forms.

Governing Law-

All international orders are governed by English law.
It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure that the import and possession of our jewellery complies with local laws and regulations.

A Note for Our International Customers-

To help you plan your purchase, we recommend checking your local customs office’s import guidelines before ordering.
As an example, jewellery entering the United States may currently be subject to import duties of around 10% of the declared value (including shipping and insurance).
